Good things never die.

After a brutal battle with my new boyfriend's sister, we've had a handful of hard facts thrown in our faces.

Someone wants the Alliance put down. His sister, Isabella (superhero alias Melody) has her hands in it, somehow. Scribe isn't the protective powerhouse we always believed him to be. We are not the unstoppable force we thought we were.

And Nishelle is alive.

I served years of my life in prison, was branded a murderer for accidentally mixing her medication with something that killed her. And yet, she showed up at our most dire moment and saved our lives. Why has she been hiding? Why did she let me go to prison? Most importantly, why is my Ember calling herself Ardent and acting like I'm poison?

So many questions and so few answers. Worse, my powers aren't responding the way they usually do after blowing myself out trying to put down Melody. We're all stuck in the hospital and there's someone pulling the strings out there, making our lives harder and putting all of us at a risk I'm not comfortable with.

I can't wait to get out of here and wrap my hands around their neck.

And I can't wait to get home so I can bury myself in my men... and maybe Nishelle, too.
