Betrayed

Living with my dragons is making my life feel complete and secure. Things are easy and calm. Life is good. Well… at least until the balance shifts.

In the middle of another skirmish with our enemy, emotions boil over. Jealousy is brewing among the brothers and it’s unsettling. I must keep the bonds between us strong and thriving but too many priorities threaten our connection. 

I don’t need more drama. I certainly don’t want it. But as we prepare for battle, Gavin leaves without a word. His brothers are incensed and I’m uneasy. I need all four of them making our circle stronger. 

And on top of the trouble with my mates, the unrest is a weight on my shoulders. It’s dragging me down. I need a release even if it’s only temporary.

My Bond men invite me to be their date to the Autumn Ball. I need this. They need this. I can’t say no. I’m feeling joyful as I look forward to this exciting event.

Just when I’m feeling like myself again, betrayal takes my joy. My legacy and power is about to be ripped away. I refuse to let go. 

I’m too young to die and my Bond men are too. We have so much left to do and so much love to share. All I want to see is those handsome faces. To feel their hands on my bare skin would be sheer heaven. I have to believe it will happen.

But will I find a way out of this predicament without having to give up my most prized possession?
