Ice, Shard and Smoke

While an audacious plan to rescue the newborn cyborgs from their sterile nurseries is under way, Shard rescues a Breeder from a raptor nest and breaks all the rules by bringing her to the rebel stronghold to save her life. Because of his uncharacteristic behavior, the lovely Kailin is suspected of being a Protector, one of those who can heal the minds of cyborgs and make them fertile. But Shard isn’t the only one affected by the girl. Ice, the cold-hearted rebel, also finds himself inexplicably drawn to her. As is Smoke, who descended into a suicidal depression when he believed her dead.

Having spent most of her life in a small cave, Kailin finds her new life in the stronghold a welcome, if eye-opening experience. Yet with one of her Aerians forced to remain in the barracks and the other two at the stronghold, her heart is torn. Can she find a way to reunite her new family, all while assisting the rebels to bring their plans for the newborns to fruition?
