I didn’t ask to be the chosen one, and I definitely didn’t sign up to deal with four over-the-top, bully guardians suddenly bound to me. Destiny demands sacrifice, but destiny is so overrated.
All I wanted was to claim my fae dowry, get out of the fae realm and back to the human realm where I grew up, and never look back. But fate—or some cosmic joke—had other plans. Instead, I accidentally unleash four deadly reapers hell-bent on destroying everything. Oh, and guess what? I’m the chosen one destined to stop them. Lucky me.
To make matters worse, I’m stuck with four guardians who are supposed to help me save the realms. Except they think I’m not up to the task since I’m half-human—something they remind me of on the daily. The guardians of the fortress are powerful, arrogant, and seem to think bullying the newbie is part of the job description. Honestly, I’d rather drop-kick them into next week than bond with them to absorb their magic. But if I don’t figure out how to unite this dysfunctional team, we’re all doomed.
It’s not all bad. I’m discovering powers I never knew I had—and I’m not just talking about my scrappy street smarts. With every battle, every close call, I’m learning that there’s more to these guardians than their sharp tongues and sharper swords. They have scars, secrets, and a loyalty that runs deeper than blood. And somehow, I’m becoming a part of that.
Along our journey, I find a friend and ally in Katy Reed—the elemental prophecy in the human realm bound to four over-the-top elementals she calls her quad squad. With their help, we’ll trap the reapers and stop them from merging into the wraith. Easy peasy, right? Trust me, that’s a lot harder than it sounds.
Now the fate of all realms rests on me. No pressure, right? But here’s the thing: I didn’t choose this. And if destiny thinks I’m going to play by its rules, it’s got another thing coming.
Because I’m Talisma Jones, and this demi-fae fights like hell for a fate I never knew I wanted—even when the odds are impossible.
