The Secret

My life is supposed to be a secret. It's a bit lonely, but not too bad - especially when my nights are filled with a man I only know as the Voice.

But the Voice isn't who I think he is. A moment of weakness brings everything crashing down around me, and I'm sucked into the depths of the military base by the head of spec ops. The military has been tormenting us forever, those of us not deemed wealthy or special enough to be important. I've used my tech abilities, knowledge I've stolen and found, to hurt them, and suspicion is like a noose around my neck. I feel like I can hardly breathe. If they get even a hint of the things I've done, they'll see me locked away for the rest of my life - or just dead.

Not trusting anyone is what's kept me alive, but now learning to trust the very men who brought me in is the only way I'll make it out of here. I have an excuse to be there, as the companion of the dark elf in charge of spec ops, the bionic elf who's his second in command, and the pixie who serves as their intelligence officer. My heart and my mind are at war with each other, and the line between the performance for others and what I feel inside is getting blurry.

Resources are running out for the people mismanaging our little world. Tensions are high, and I'm the reluctant key to a drastic, desperate change. One stupid mistake turns everything on its head. Now I have to get convince both sides to work together, and I can only hope I'm in time to save my family.
