Imagine a future with Ai so advanced that humans live in a state of torporific ennui.

Technology has made labor and currency obsolete, and humans lazy and apathetic. True, there is no longer hunger or disease, no crime or violence, no corrupted governments nor greedy capitalists. There is only the perseverance of tranquillity, and what little emotion the androids can draw from their human masters as the Ai works hard to keep the humans well-fed and content.

It is paradise, yet all the people are too bored to enjoy it.

However, on the eve of Acedia’s 21st birthday, the only existence she’s ever known changes forever with a simple flash that turns off almost all the technology around her, and what little that remains on is suddenly… wrong.

Rescued from a malevolent bot by three fascinating men, she doesn’t recognize this new world they have brought her into. The “anachronics” who’ve taken her are forcing her to remain with them, and they expect her to do her part to survive, but she’s never had to do anything for herself her whole life. Worst, they make her feel things she’s never felt before. They make her want to stay, even when she knows she should go.

Will Acedia learn how to exist without technology, or she will end up just like the “sloths” before her?
