When the four Elorsin brothers venture onto our estate in search of a mysterious bird, just in time to catch me on the wrong end of my master’s temper, they somehow also acquire me.

Acquire, kidnap, rescue – is there a difference?

I wake up in the servants’ quarters amongst their elite. Where I’ll be safe, or at least that’s the idea.

If you’re ever in my shoes, I recommend revenge involving food and the boots of a certain growling alpha male, followed by kicking the nearest immortal prince in the balls.

And when the brother of chaos suggests playing a potion-prank on a psychopath with the ability to open the veil into their equivalent of hell  run.

Which, I didn’t.

Now I'm magically tethered to the Elorsins, like a pet who can't seem to keep her wayward mouth shut, while they plot to reclaim their kingdom from the murderer currently wearing the crown. Their crown, and at least one of them strikes me as the type to bathe in the blood of their enemies.

But the plotting is going to have to wait, because apparently immortal magic, the magic tethering us, tends to slowly syphon the soul from mortals.

That's me, I’m mortal, and I’m screwed if we don’t find a way to reverse this potion-gone-wrong and free my insignificant-soot-servant-ass soon.
