The military was determined to use Jacinta for every advantage that they could, and the government wanted to claim new territory for Earth. Hungry eyes gazed skywards, their targets set firmly on the resources to be found in space. It would be a race between nations to see who could create a stable enough portal to get there first.

Things were also heating up with the Pure Human Movement. They were pushing to have Portals like Jacinta declared non-human, stripping them of their most basic rights, and their cries were gaining traction.

Then there was the new mind that Jacinta found, right at the edge of her limits. She could sense war and destruction on a scale that was unimaginable. In an instant, billions of minds screamed out and then were silent.

All except for one.

One dark, powerful and terrible voice. And its sights were now set on Jacinta and her planet of origin.
