Koen reached up and plucked it out of the air and offered it to me on the palm of his hand. “It’s tame, you can feel it if you like.”
I reached out hesitantly, letting the little gold flame curl around my fingers. It held the same warmth as Koen’s arms.

Everything was gone. Everything I'd worked for, everything I cared for, it was all gone.
Then I met Thomas and he told me about a place that I could matter in a way that I never had before. He told me about a woman named Helena, about a place called the Farwalker Inn and about the ways I could help and be supported in ways I never had.
Then I met them, met the men on the other side of the cards and they gave me exactly what I needed and never realized that I craved. They call to me, they warm and soothe me.
Now all I want is to go to them. Go forward into my new life and see what the future holds.
