“Stop thinking, Sylvia,” he leaned down and brushed his lips over mine softly. “Tell me if you don’t want this, but otherwise I need you to stop thinking for a little while.”
I’d always been invisible, unseen, as unobtrusive as possible so that I wouldn’t be a burden to the people that took care of me growing up. It followed me into adulthood and now I was beginning to struggle with it.
Then I let a friend take me to The Pedestal. When she handed me that card and dragged me to the bar, my mouth got ahead of me and I was suddenly being seen for the first time in years by one of the most handsome men I’d ever met.
Then strange things started happening around me, the world started to make less and less sense and I had no idea what to do. So I went back, back to Thomas and he helped me to Helena and the place where I should have been from the first days of my life.
And then I met the others and they saw me too. I have a decision to make, I can flee and be invisible or I can step into the sun for the first time in my life and see where it takes us.
